News & Announcements / Re: Discussion for moving to pvp server

XFER
Well 6 replies so far isn't much feedback to go on. There are other high-ranking guildies that haven't posted on the board, but who have also given their opinions in private to officers. I know 1 other that is in favor of transferring.

RECRUITS
My recruit has been limited to people I have personally played with and enjoy the company of. That being said, I've invited about 2-3 people and then passed everyone else off to other officers. I don't recognize most of the players outside the guild, and don't know their previous guilds, or really anything about them. If their intentions to PVP are serious or not (because, as I've mentioned before, this isn't a PVP shard, so how can you really trust outsiders?). At this point though I think I'll just add anyone who asks just to bring up online presence. I think it's definitely more inspiring to see players on and asking to do things than not.

PLANNING
One of the current issues holding us back is the lack of knowledge when people will be on to do certain things. Second would be lack of plans. This game does not have an in-game calender to keep track of things, and the Guild Wall can easily become cluttered or overlooked. I think that if we at least start using the wall to state an event to either a) pvp, b) dungeon, c) raid, within 3 days of posting, we will at least have some feedback from players in advance, instead of our ask-now-and-hope-for-the-best thing we've been doing lately. The main post should be simple and to the point at the end of the announcement below our guild site and vent info so that people see it when they log in, instead of having to click the wall first.

Wow. Defiant are absolutely horrendous in the 29 bracket on Seastone. Was killing 29 twinks with my 20 Warrior in greens with no runes on them.

Yes. I do want to move to a pvp shard. I've been wanting to for a long time, actually.
I do like our guild, but we can barely recruit for PVP on a PVE shards as most people in 50 chat troll the idea entirely.
Several of our good players have left/returned to PVP shards.

Pros not including what I've already mentioned:
World PVP. Everyone is flagged. No bullshit people sitting at a rift until they out-number you, and then pounce.
More PVP activity.
A higher likelyhood of ranked matches with our mains, and probably less dumbasses/bots.
A higher probability of twinks on both sides in each bracket.
PVPers who raid are more likely to be doing it for PVP gains, not the continual raiding prowess yawnfest.

Cons:
Well, obvious rogues will have the best advantage in world pvp.
Warriors generally have no healing.
We are all likely to have lesser skill and gear than the normies, I've experienced this on the PTS. But this could also help us improve.
Possible population drop.
Harder to do zone/world events. May or may not be a problem.
Casuals might find themselves overwhelmed in open world.

I emailed them about their asinine ban this time:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Regarding:
"You have been banned for the following reason:
This account has been suspended for 1 day for calling out others in thread titles. Please contact the Rift Community Team at community@riftgame.com if you have any questions.
Date the ban will be lifted: 03-13-2012, 09:00 PM"
I posted "@Oaf" in the title to alert him that his inbox was full. There was no harassment of any kind, and we are mutual friends. You can tell via his response telling me that he fixed it.
I'm getting sick and tired of the obtuse moderation on the forums. Do you not value any of your customers? Is it a robot that is doing it?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Forum mods are dumb as fuck. That's not customer service at all. Fucking fails. I'm ready for GW2 now.

When I get d/c'd it takes like a full minute of trying to log in and getting d/c'd again over and over before I can finally get in, or stop trying. Then the forum fails on top of that with the can't load page shirt.

    Until I know when those games come out with an exact date, then I'll not even bother trying to keep track of where people are. It'll be on a pvp server though (if that even makes sense for there with RvsR). These pve people are beyond annoying/boring, and surprisingly less mature.

    Mages dominated my last MMO, and now this one. I'll probably make a mage-type.

Is there already a thread like this?

I'll toss in a few: [/u]

Neat map. Mouse over settings to view more stuff.

Tons of useful info about Rift

I use SimpleMeter, Target Casting Bar, and RareDar

Find all the rare mobs like a pro (me)

Confirmation that Axe and 2H PA training both raise the damage of the pvp 2H weapons for warriors

View loot tables for Raids. If this doesn't make you want to pve, then you probably shouldn't. It makes me want to pve.

Mats needed to make the augment to put valor on crafted items

And the other things I view are various forums on Rift's site, like Warrior, PvP & Warfronts, PTS, Dev Tracker, etc. threads. I'm also a youtube pvp video fan for warriors.

Mage / Re: mage specs
« on: January 15, 2012, 02:48:48 PM »
Need input on a spec I made to try and find out how healers could be so OP.
44 chloro/ 15 pyro/ 7 dom

Excerpt from my Warrior thread QQ in regards to this spec:

You don't need 60s break free when you can flicker every 20s that does something better (especially after 1.7 when you get it free anyway). Reduced stuns and silences by 30% (OP on a healer!). 30m ranged root. No cd on squirrel, and increased timer with the same talent. Interupt + knockback in the same spell (wtb this). Reflect next spell. Brez. Remove CC on an aly. Cleanse. All types of heals. Using ranged snare Burning Bonds (pyro), OR squirrel reduces the next squirrel to a 1.5s cast. And this is all just from casual glances at the talents. I'm sure after you've strung everything together with heals, shields, helping allies stay up, you're almost never in the hot seat playing this class in this way. What's more depressing is that it does far, far, far more damage than warriors who try to play defensively. Hell, even more than those with just offensive souls. lol Ranged aoe damage that also aoe heals. GG. Balanced.
